First thing first, mission accomplished. One of my
It is important to have goals. As someone who has been dividend investing for a relatively short duration, I feel that setting smaller/achievable goals is important. It keeps us motivated. The fact that it took me 2 years to get to 500 is quite demotivating. I wish I had set my initial goal as $200.0, this way I would have more milestones and a better sense of accomplishment.
With this in mind, my next goal is 750$ in forward dividends. Keeping it SMART (A S.M.A.R.T. goal is defined as one that is specific, measurable, achievable, results-focused, and time bound).

ReplyDeleteNice. Here's the question - going for $750 before the year is over?! I say go for it and you'll get there.

Thanks Lanny. 750 by end of this year is going to be difficult. I will give it a try :-) A few dividend increases can surely help
DeleteIf you are going to have more money invested each month, then you can reach $700 dividend for sure.since 4 more months to go before next year, you have time to reach your SMART goal.
ReplyDeleteYes I agree. But, there is only a finite source of money I can devote towards investing. Based on that, it would be difficult to reach 750. However, I might try to squeeze in a few additional dollars (fingers crossed). Thanks for stopping by PS.
DeleteCongrats on hitting $500 in forward dividends. That is a great milestone. End of the year is crunch time for both of us to get in last minute buys. Even if we don't see the results this year, it makes the gains next year look all that more impressive.
ReplyDeleteYes. Especially since we have our friendly competition on :). It would also be nice to hit $200 in Q4 ... as you know it is the heaviest dividend month for mutual funds.
DeleteYes goals are very important as they keep us motivated in the right direction, without goals we don't know what we are working for.
ReplyDeleteDividends grow and compound over time, you seem to be making good progress and $500 in forward dividends is nothing to sneeze at.
Thanks ATM. I hope to keep growing my dividend stream. As of now it accounts for ~ 2% of my yearly expenses.
DeleteCongrats on hitting your goal of $500 in annual dividends. It took two years but you made it. On to the next milestone. This is a marathon so know it takes time to grow your portfolio and passive income stream.
ReplyDeleteI agree. I will keep running. You are one of my inspirations for dividend investing. Thanks for swinging by Keith.
DeleteCongrats on achieving your goal Div Geek. I actually just cross the $500 mark myself. $750 is a great goal. Hopefully, you get to it in record time.
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Congrats on reaching 500. I want to get there as soon as possible.
