April 2018 : Investment Portfolio Status

April is over and it’s time for my monthly status update. As always I will be comparing my portfolio performance against S&P 500. Good to see some upward movement, S&P 500 is up 0.27% in April.

One way to identify dividend growth stocks is to look for dividend increases. Companies that pay rising dividends are likely to be financially healthy, generate consistent cash flow and regular dividend. I am interested in stocks with at least ten consecutive years of increasing annual dividend payments (Dividend Achievers). Here is a list of US companies that increased their dividends this week.

March 2018 : Investment Portfolio Status

March is over and it’s time for my monthly status update. Volatility continues to be been the story of this month. The massive sell of was lead by technology sector. My portfolio has significant ( 16.55% ) exposure to technology and has been burnt. S&P 500 is down 2.688% in March.

I stumbled upon some intriguing (albeit delayed) news regarding Vanguard Canada's recent launch of three new ETFs. Being an avid Vanguard enthusiast, I couldn't resist investigating further. These ETFs bear a striking resemblance to the target date funds available in the United States. Nevertheless, what sets them apart is their unchanging asset allocation over time. Each ETF is designed to adhere to a specific asset allocation pattern, encompassing Canadian bonds, US stocks, Canadian stocks, developed market stocks/bonds, and emerging market stocks/bonds.
